Three-lane Wafi bridge in Dubai to ease traffic

The Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) , chaired by Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of RTA , recently endorsed a contract for constructing Wafi bridge comprising three lanes stretching from Oud Metha Road to Sheikh Rashid Road costing about Dh88 million.

“This project is undertaken as part of RTA ‘s endeavours to improve and upgrade roads network in Dubai.  Wafi Interchange is a vital traffic link with several main roads as it intersects with Sheikh Rashid Road and Oud Metha Road. Moreover, this interchange is currently experiencing heavy traffic as a result of the massive number of vehicles using it and the overlap with the curves of the interchange,” said Al Tayer.

“This project encompasses the construction of a three-lane bridge from Oud Metha Road (nearby Latifa Hospital) in the direction of Sheikh Rashid Road and from there to Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Saada Road (viaduct leading to the Dubai World Trade Center) extending 700 meters with a capacity to handle around 3,300 vehicles per hour. The new Interchange will sort out the overlapping traffic issue and ease traffic flow to all directions in the interchange. More info
